In partnership with PJ Library, please join me for a virtual workshop to learn how to use upcycled wood to make this adorable Shabbat candle holder in the shape of an owl.
I created this project with inspiration from the PJ Library book, “The Shabbat Box”, written by Lesley Simpson and illustrated by Nicole in Den Bosch. The story is about a boy named Ira who loses his class’s precious Shabbat Box in a snowstorm, and in the process of trying to make things right, he learns valuable lessons about creating positive outcomes.
Following Ira’s example, we will use this project to help our kids learn to use their creativity/building skills to be resourceful and make the best of situations. Our beautiful Shabbat candleholders will light the way and help us celebrate important moments like Shabbat.
You and your child will learn basic woodworking skills to build this fun and functional eco-friendly project. Building Kits include all of the wood pieces, nails, hardware, sandpaper, glue, paint, 1 brush, and instructions. Hammer is optional - please select from the dropdown menu.
Pre-Order: This project ships on October 30th. Join us on ZOOM for the virtual workshop! A link to a video recording of the workshop will be provided for those who are unable to attend the live Zoom on the date below.
